Spring Break in April

From April 10-18, 2009 we were able to fly back and spend time with Dan's mom in Cleveland TN, which is where he grew up. That is in the southeastern part of the state.

Our flights back were very bumpy, as there were a lot of thunderstorms and tornados in the area. Cleveland was safe and sound, though. We decided that flying the day before spring break is great because the airport was not even crowded.

We had a great time spending time with his mom, and his brother and family. We celebrated Moms birthday as well as our sister-in-law, Jill's. Easter was fun, too. Have you ever tried edible Easter grass? We have.

We also visited The Lost Sea which is some very old caves hooked together with a lake at the bottom. In the lake are some huge white trout. We hiked 500 feet down and got on boats and took a ride. It was really fun! We also visited Mayfield Milk/Icecream Dairy where we got a tour of the facility. If you don't know, milk in the South comes in dark yellow cartons. It was really interesting and the icecream is yummy! We meandered back to Cleveland on what seemed like a country road that winded through green hills with lots of cows in the pastures, little towns, and tiny churches.

The weather was wonderful. The temperatures were perfect, 60-70's. It rained a little adding to the green of the hills and valleys. (We heard that it snowed about 10 inches in Utah while we were gone and we were glad that we missed that storm).

We enjoyed being able to eat at Krystal Burger a couple of times. We wish there was one out here. We just love those cheese sliders. We also enjoyed chocolate burgers which are a local creme filled donut that is better than a Krispy Kreme. Jill enjoyed cooking/baking for family, so that we weren't eating out too much!

Vacations always come to an end and we hate to leave, but we must. We look forward to returning each spring and we are grateful that we are able to do just that.
